Polly and her Pups
It took two months to rescue Polly from the streets of South Los Angeles. When I first met her, she was a skinny little dog of mixed breed. She would happily take my food, water and treats, but would not get into my car. She had no collar and I had observed her “running the streets” for a month prior to my first attempt at rescue.
She disappeared for awhile and I thought, “Oh, good. She went home.” Then, one sunny day, I saw her again, walking slowly and looking a bit plump. I decided that I would try one more time to help her. She ran behind an apartment building and settled herself on a porch. I thought that perhaps these folks had taken her in. When I knocked on the door, the gentleman said that she was NOT their dog, but they had been sharing their meals with her. “That must be why she had gained so much weight,” I thought. This kind man helped me finally get Polly into my car.
She sat quietly as we drove to the vet’s for her medical exam. After x-rays, it was determined that Polly was not only a little plump, she was also PREGNANT with 8 puppies. One week later, she delivered NINE pups at the home of Dr. Deb Robertson from Animal Medical Group in Manhattan Beach. One of the pups was unable to be detected prior to birth because she weighed only 6 ounces.
Thanks to the help of Dr. Deb Robertson, her amazing children, her kind neighbors and volunteers from Rescued Angels, Polly and her pups thrived in a warm, kind, loving environment and were all placed in amazing homes. Below you will find a picture of pregnant Polly and one of Polly with all her pups—Anna, Stewie, Milo, Brody, Mia, Ginger, Mocha, Bella and Buster. Thank you to EVERYONE who made this a REALLY HUGE success story. Polly and the pups thank you, too.

Lily
Lily was rescued from the streets of South Los Angeles. She had been living with her friend, Willy (who still needs a home and can be seen on the “Available Animals” page) and a homeless man. The man was clearly unable to care for Lily and willingly relinquished her to one of our volunteers.
Upon examination at Animal Medical and Dental Group in Manhattan Beach, Dr. Deb Robertson found that Lily had a very deep neck wound probably caused by a tight leash or rubber band that had grown into her neck. She needed surgery and recovered beautifully.
It wasn’t long before she caught the eye of a receptionist at the hospital and Lily was adopted by her brother. Lily’s new, wonderful family has a male dog named, Boy. The family’s young son thought Lily should change her name to Girl, but Mom won out and Lily is still Lily—only much happier and healthier than when she was rescued. Thank you once again to our friends at Animal Medical Group for putting pets first. Lily says thanks, too.

Lucky
Lucky was given to one of our volunteers because his owner was moving and could no longer keep him. As I got to know Lucky, I thought his name should be Happy, as he seemed to just smile all the time. I don’t think his tail stopped wagging for one minute. Lucky is a real success story, too.
Actually, Lucky is the Express Success story because it only took 3 days to find him a phenomenal, loving home with his new best friend, Brody. Once more, an employee of Animal Medical and Dental Group fell in love with another Rescued Angel and Lucky has more love and attention than he’s ever known. Thanks from us and Lucky. Lucky sure is lucky!!!
